Day of Defeat: Source has had a major update, moving to the Orange Box engine, adding a new map, bringing in achievements and a several other bells and whistles:
Leveraging the recently released set of free services available in Steamworks, the Palermo Update adds 51 achievements to Day of Defeat: Source, player avatar displays in the scoreboard and win panel, and detailed player statistics that are integrated with the Steam Community features (www.steamcommunity.com).

In addition, this update adds support for popular features introduced in Valve's Team Fortress 2 (TF2), the PC title named multiplayer game of the year by Gamespy.com and PC Gamer. These include "nemesis/revenge" freeze cam and new effects driven by the particle system introduced to the Source engine for TF2.

Finally, this update also introduces a new map, Palermo, which is a remix of the most popular community map, dod_salerno, originally created by Magnar "insta" Jennsen.
Some cool new features which might breathe some fresh life into an old classic (well, a remake of an old classic). Fire up your Steams and check it out.

The official site mentions there's a free weekend coming up in a couple days so everyone can check it out!

Sweet. Between TF2 and DoD:S, that's most of my gaming time atm. They should hold me out until SC2 and D3.

Well they've introduced stats...which don't seem to accumulate unless you sit through the whole map. Seems sort of retarded.

yeah not really a facelift or anything.. just basic stuff that you expect from steam games these days (nemesis/revenge/achievements/etc).

nothing that will take me away from tf2

DoD was good when it had a really big team DM style of play. No recoil, fast spawns, that map in the snow with the insta-cap flag points. etc.

beta 1.3b I think.

Wonder if the achievements will do what TF2 did with the extra weapons though.

I think the 'realistic shooter' has been done to death. CS did it, DOD did it. Least TF2 didn't do it.

CS was realistic?

I wouldn't even say that DoD is realistic. I'd say Battlefield is probably the only 'realistic' FPS, and even that's a stretch.
